It’s all about GUTS.

Listen to your guts = intuition
Having the guts = courage

GUTS. THE FILM.

GUTS is a biographical, adventure documentary that portrays Patrizia and Marie’s off-road journey through North West Africa. With their off-road car “Petra” and four surfboards, they traveled for more than 20.000 km on a 5 month expedition to capture the inspiring stories of women who are shaping Africa’s future. A captivating documentary aiming to encourage other women to listen to their gut feelings, a moving tale that gives a new perspective on female travel, women’s empowerment, reconnection with nature and freedom.

"Women today fight for political, economic and sexual equality, but the decision to drive alone through Africa is one that would raise eye-brows in even the most tolerant of societies. But why should men be the only ones who are allowed to go off and have big adventures on their own?"

How it all started

Patrizia: It all started with a game: what would you do if you weren’t afraid? If you dared to listen to your GUTS, to that wise little voice at the end of your stomach. There was this dream we both had—to cross Africa in a four-wheel drive, to get off the beaten path, and find our own way, our own vision. And when you meet another girl who shares the same crazy dream, you can’t say no. It’s a sign from the Universe. You have to jump in that car and do the thing.

That’s how it started: just Marie, me, and our old Hyundai Galloper, our dear Petra. We knew that as women, we’d be able to connect on a deeper level with other women on the road and tell stories from a perspective often neglected. What happened on that long and dusty road was pure magic. All those women we met were meant to cross our path, leading the way, showing us the road.

There was always a friend, a cousin, a brother who had an incredible woman to introduce to us. That’s how we went from meeting the first female mountain guide in the Moroccan Atlas to the Mauritanian peace activist in Nouakchott, to the surfer girls’ community of Dakar. They were all connected, part of a long and intricate domino chain.

What we learned from all these incredible women is that it doesn’t matter where you come from—if you dare to listen to your GUTS, to your wise inner voice, what you ask for will happen. It will unfold right in front of you, surprising you with miracles you never expected.

Some of the women that shaped our road.

The Film

Patrizia Bruno and Marie Pfisterer decide to follow their instincts. No big plan, no set mission—just the courage to listen to their gut and see where it takes them. What opens up in front of them is a moving, transformative journey. The 60-minute documentary takes you through Morocco, Mauritania, Senegal, The Gambia, and Guinea Bissau. It’s not a typical travel documentary: It’s less about the places and more about the people – every women that crosses their pathse offers a piece of wisdom that sticks.

What sets GUTS apart is its heart. There’s no heavy-handed messaging, no forced drama. It’s just two women learning from the world around them and sharing what they find. The lessons are universal: trust yourself, stand up after falling and listen to your inner voice

By the end of the film, it’s impossible not to feel something. GUTS leaves you changed. It’s not just a documentary; it’s an invitation to pause, listen, and follow where your own instincts might lead.

“Have you ever had that feeling? Like a fly going crazy in your stomach, trying to get out, to get your attention. You can call it intuition, anxiety, instinct, adrenaline, passion, fear. We call it GUTS and we decided to listen to it. We wanted to know what happens when you follow the buzz until the end of the road."

The Impact

With the documentary GUTS, we aim to create a powerful impact that resonates far beyond the screen. Our aim is to use the film as catalysator for young people to listen to their inner voices, no matter where they come from, and to encourage them to take action. “If this woman from the mountain village did it, I can do it. If the 8-year-old girl from Senegal can do it, I can do it.”

Our mission with Guts is to inspire people to trust their intuition and take bold steps to create change. We want to encourage others to realize that their stories can influence and transform lives.

GUTS ON GROUND Tour.

We want to take the message of Guts directly to communities, combining grassroot screenings with workshops and make a difference where it matters. In collaboration with local organisations and community spaces, we want to show the film to small and big audiences around the globe and hosting wokshops about topics such as: trusting your intuition, overcoming fear, finding courage to act.

We both knew that an expedition was the only way to arrive at the very end of ourselves.

There was a freedom on the road you couldn’t have anywhere else. Having nothing, being nobody. The road is our mentor, taking us out of our comfort zone, making us face hidden parts of ourselves that would have never come up in ordinary life.
